MAHA Report Rubber Stamps Pesticide Industry Talking Points

Report Falls Short on Reducing Chemical Harms to Children

WASHINGTON, DC, September 9, 2025 — Food safety experts, including leaders within the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement, blasted the Trump administration’s just-released MAHA Commission Report, calling it a chemical and pesticide industry wish list.  Below are reactions.

“This report is a major missed opportunity for the Trump administration and a clear sign that Big Ag, Bayer, and the pesticide industry are firmly embedded in the White House and intentionally short-circuiting Trump’s campaign promise to the millions of MAHA voters who helped him return to power.  In the past four months alone, three major independent peer-reviewed studies have found definitive links between pesticides like glyphosate, paraquat, and chlorpyrifos to six of the top ten common cancers found in the U.S., Parkinson’s disease, and brain damage in children.”

David Murphy is the founder of United We Eat and a former Finance Director for RFK Jr.’s Presidential campaign. Murphy survived childhood leukemia, which he was diagnosed with at age 11. He is from Iowa, a state with the second-highest cancer rates in the U.S. and the top producer of Roundup Ready GMO corn and soybeans, which are genetically engineered to survive being sprayed with glyphosate, which has been linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, and infertility in humans.

“While Moms Across America is thrilled that the MAHA Commission Strategy Report addresses a wide range of environmental factors that have never-before been addressed by any other administration, we are deeply disappointed that the committee allowed the chemical companies to influence the report,” said Zen Honeycutt, the founder of Moms Across America and a close ally of Secretary Kennedy.

“Clearly, eliminating the words “glyphosate and atrazine” (that were in the first report) is not a result of new science that shows these two most widely used herbicides to be safe, but rather a tactic to appease the pesticide companies. We would rather that this MAHA Commission report had put the health and safety of our children first and made a bold commitment to reduce our children’s exposure to thousands of harmful pesticides; many of which are banned in other countries, many more which have been given emergency use authorization without safety studies. Reducing exposure to these pesticides is crucial to making America healthy again. We can only continue to hold President Trump and Kennedy to their word and educate the public about the truth.”

Zen Honeycutt, founder of Moms Across America, MAHA mom, and long-time advocate for safer food and farming practices.

“The pesticide section of the report, which directs EPA to partner with industry on PR campaigns to convince Americans the system is ‘robust,’ reads like it was written by Bayer and Monsanto.  The American people gave the mandate, and the President promised to work with Secretary Kennedy, not undermine his mission by loading the administration with those who would fight him. The MAHA movement must keep this administration accountable to its promises to protect our children, support our farmers, and make America truly healthy again.”

Elizabeth Kucinich, former Director of Policy for the Center for Food Safety

Last month, over 240 leaders and organizations sent a letter urging President Donald Trump to fulfill his promise to “make America healthy again.” Citing polling that shows strong bipartisan support for MAHA priorities, the signers ask the President to oppose special liability immunity for harmful chemicals and pesticides and to prioritize children’s health. Signers included Mary Holland, President of Children’s Health Defense; Meryl Nass, MD; Zen Honeycutt of Moms Across America; and Vani Hari.
