Dear Administrator Lee Zeldin,
“Make America Healthy Again” has become a rallying cry for parents, farmers, and communities who are tired of chronic disease, environmental contamination, and regulatory failure. But catchy slogans do not make people healthy. Policy does.
Today, a profound contradiction sits at the center of federal governance. While the administration claims to prioritize health, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to approve, expand, and normalize chemical exposures that directly undermine that goal, driven by the chemical industry lobbyists who occupy senior leadership positions at the agency. This contradiction must be resolved.

We write as child nutrition advocates, parents, and organizations committed to the shared goal of ending chronic disease through good nutrition and healthier food production. The Make America Healthy Again mandate has elevated the urgent need to address rising rates of childhood obesity, metabolic dysfunction, early cardiovascular risk, and diet-related illness. School meals are one of the most powerful tools available to advance prevention-first public health policy. The nutrition standards set by USDA today will shape the long-term health trajectories of millions of children.

We urgently call on USDA to align policies and funding priorities with the promises outlined in the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Initiative and Commission report by supporting programs that deliver local, healthy food to communities while safeguarding farmers, families, and the land itself.

Ask President Trump to strip two riders (453 & 507) that block pesticide safety updates and PFAS oversight—because they act like immunity for chemical companies, hurt families and farmers, and risk breaking MAHA’s clean air, clean water pledge.
